3-Salty, pickled and smoked foods
Although deliciously tempting, many salty, pickled and smoked foods can have detrimental consequences on our health. Containing the preservative nitrate is known to cause the formation of N-nitroso composites, which directly affects the development of high cancer risks. Moreover, smoking processes are often used and it produces tar that contains uncertainties; not only are we unknowingly subjecting ourselves to hazardous substances within these foods but this is also equivalent to smoking a cigarette in terms of health implications. Stomach, colorectal as well as bladder and throat cancer are indicators of this risk, so it’s important that we remain aware and mindful when integrating these cravable yet dangerous treats into our diets.
2-Hydrogenated oils
Though hydrogenated oils are an easy and cost effective way to preserve food, the health risks associated with their use make them an unsuitable choice. Hydrogenated oils are known to increase your risk of cancer and heart disease, as well as lead to birth defects. As these oils cannot be extracted like healthier options such as olive, soy and canola oil; it’s best to avoid using them altogether in your cooking. Make sure to always check food labels for hazardous ingredients, and opt for healthier alternatives instead. Doing so will mean you can enjoy your meals knowing that no toxic substances have been used in their preparation.
1-Potato chips:
Fried snacks are often viewed as an easy and cheap way to get our cravings under control. Unfortunately, these snacks aren’t often the best for our health. Deep-fat fried foods contain high levels of trans-fats that can cause weight gain and excessive sodium levels, leading to a risk of high blood pressure. Aside from this, these delicious snacks also contain artificial flavors, preservatives, and colorings that can be damaging to our bodies over time. The carcinogen acrylamide, found in cigarettes is also an infamous component lurking within fried snacks. To avoid these potential dangers, why not choose healthier options like pretzels and air-popped popcorn or baked apple chips?
