9-Salted fish (Chinese style)
While salting is still a popular method of preserving fish, particularly in South-East Asia and China, it unfortunately can have cancerous effects. The carcinogenic by-products produced through this method of preservation means that Chinese-style salted fish falls into the same Group 1 carcinogen category as processed meat. In an effort to avoid the potential health risks associated with salting, alternatives such as fresh fish and seafood should be considered for consumption. Prawns, mussels or squid are all viable options and are just as delicious when cooked properly.
8-Alcohol
It’s well-documented that alcohol use directly leads to increased risk of certain cancers, but moderate consumption can be beneficial to your health. One glass a day with dinner may reduce the chance of heart disease, but more than that can lead to serious cardiovascular issues like heart failure, stroke and even death. The most prominent resulting cancers are in the mouth, esophagus, colon, rectum and breasts; so it’s clear that alcohol consumption should not be taken lightly! Being aware of this danger is important for everyone, but especially those who regularly drink more than the recommended amount – only enjoying one alcoholic drink at a time may make all the difference in the world for your health.
7-Fast food or processed foods
Greater body fatness is a major risk factor for many types of cancer; fortunately, the World Cancer Research Fund recommends limiting certain unhealthy food options to help manage calorie intake and minimize that risk. By swapping out fast food hamburgers and fries for healthful homemade alternatives like sandwiches made with wholegrain bread, sushi, or salads that are packed with nutrition, you can keep your weight under control and still enjoy a delicious meal. With an array of delicious options available from home, there’s no need to succumb to the temptations of processed foods when preparing a lunch to take to work. Eating better can help reduce risks associated with cancer while boosting your focus and energy levels too.
